Mechanical Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems. Performs product development activities including drawing board layout and interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements. Provides existing product line support in design activities and or modification of hardware in production. Conducts complex engineering studies requiring use of initiative and judgment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Engineering with four years of applicable experience.
-Solid communications skills, both written and verbal, required.
-Demonstrated application of complex concepts, practices and procedures within particular engineering field.
-Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities
-Troubleshoots mechanical or electrical equipment issues and provides technical leadership and training to resolve same.
-Develops, writes, implements and or submits various technical reports or CARs in support of cost reduction, new product, and reliability and safety initiatives.
-Typically supervises 2 TO 5 technicians and mentors more junior engineers.
-Typically has technical responsibility for a large and or complex department.
-Manage small to medium capital projects and assist with development of AOP.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position works to create production methods on new equipment and improve production methods on existing equipment.
- The person works with the Process Engineer to determine manufacturing capacity constraints that require modifications in plant equipment
- Troubleshoots mechanical or electrical equipment issues and provides technical leadership and training to resolve same.
- Develops, writes, implements and/or submits various technical reports or CARs in support of cost reduction, new product, reliability and safety initiatives.
- Assigns duties to drafters, technicians machine shop personnel to support projects. May directly supervise 1-3 technicians and mentor more junior engineers.
- May manage small capital projects.
- May assist with development of AOP. Areas of specialty include:

MECHANICAL - Performs the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems. Performs product development activities including drawing board layout and interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements. Provides existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware in production. Conducts engineering studies. At this level, assignments are moderately complex and require use of initiative and judgment.

MANUFACTURING - Plans and designs manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. May improve production methods, determine manufacturing capacity, and set up production schedules. Provides support in the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such as machining, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling. May assist in time and cost estimates.

INDUSTRIAL - Responsible for complex planning activities for equipment layouts in plant, office, and production facilities. Conducts studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors. May provide work leadership and training to lower level professional employees. Works on moderately complex assignments.

WORKING SCHEDULE & PAY RANGE:
- $44.00 an hour.
- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
